Cableway to Solisko

If you're looking for a quick escape to the heights with panoramic views of the majestic High Tatras, the cable car to Solisko is one of the best ways to get there. Located in the tourist resort of Štrbské Pleso, this cable car is one of the most popular transport links to the high mountains without the need for a long and difficult climb.
Where is it located?
The Solisko cableway is located in the area of the Štrbské Pleso ski resort, one of the highest tourist and recreational centres in Slovakia. The cable car's exit station is located at Predné Solisko, at an altitude of about 1840 m. above sea level. The lower station of the Solisko chairlift is 1.5 km from the Panorama Hotel, which is about a 19-minute walk.
Quickly and conveniently
The cable car leads from Štrbské Pleso and takes you to Predné Solisko in about 7 minutes. It is used during the summer and winter season - in winter as part of the ski resort, in summer as a helper for tourists who want to save time and energy before climbing to the peaks or mountain hikes. It is a chairlift.
The Solisko cableway is not only a tourist attraction, but also an interesting piece of engineering. It is a passenger suspended single-rope orbiting system with detachable attachment of four-seater seats, manufactured by the renowned French company Poma.
The construction of the cable car took place from August to December 2002 and it was officially put into operation on 21 December 2002. In the winter season, the cable car can transport up to 1600 people per hour, which significantly contributes to the smooth operation of the Štrbské Pleso ski resort.
What can you experience?
1. Panoramic views
From the upper section of the cable car you can enjoy a beautiful view of the peaks of the High Tatras and the valley below. In good weather you can also see part of the Low Tatras and the Poprad basin.
2. Hike to Predné Solisko
From the cable car it is only a short hike to the very top of Predný Solisko (2117 m above sea level). It is a relatively easy climb suitable for less experienced hikers, but with a breathtaking view.
3. Mountain huts and refreshments
Near the top station of the cable car is the Chalet pod Soliskom, where you can have hot tea, soup or sweet cake. It is the youngest alpine chalet in the Tatras, built in 1944.
4. Winter sports
In winter, the cable car is mainly used by skiers and snowboarders. The slopes from Predný Solisko are among the highest slopes in Slovakia.
Price list and operation
Prices vary according to season and ticket type (one-way/one-way), but as a guide they are around 12-24 € for adults. Children, students, seniors and Tatry Card holders have discounts.
Lift operating hours are usually from 9:00 to 15:30 during the high season, but we always recommend checking the latest information as the lift operation is subject to suitable weather conditions.
